"They say God's the master clockmaker. Not a bad
analogy, although She'd probably make a joke about being a cuckoo if
you passed it Upstairs. Even the tiniest atom, the most random crowd,
has a degree of logic and order to its movements and actions. Hell is
where all the people who want to tell the orderly atoms where to stick
themselves go. What makes it so dangerous is that the people who can
do that have beaten them to it." - Jennet Snow, Board theologian.
Vast, hungry, and yet somehow able to lurk in a million
shadows, the forces of the Dark Lord spread fear, ignorance, and terror
wherever they tread for no other reason beyond the Adversary's personal
angst. Dedicated to supporting His overthrow of God, they take an
infernal delight in tormenting the less powerful along the way.
Exactly why Hell's attention is focussed on Earth here
and now remains unknown, although Speculation grimly suspect they can
guess. The amassing of Infernal forces, cross-referenced with remarks
dropped at various "incident" sites, just might suggest Hell thinks the
Big One is coming up. The Goddess remains silent on the issue, but Her
comments suggest a bitter feud over humanity has raged even before the
Board were dragged into it, and soon the tenuous shroud of secrecy will
snap and the gloves will come off.
It'll be the end of the world as we know it, and the
Board don't feel fine at all...
