The Battlecruiser Triton, of the Terran Imperial Navy, is Commodore Jacob 'Red' Haidan's flagship and preferred mode of transportation. A sleek black ovoid, purpose-built for war, the Triton is a carefully blend of speed, defenses, and sheer firepower. With two similarly-equipped sisters, she is the most powerful vessel of Red's twelve-ship flotilla.

Designated a Longbowman Alpha class Command Battlecruiser, TINS Triton was laid down in 2513, nearly four years ago (by the ship’s own time). The ship, built around a solid synthetic-ceramic armor keel, measures more than 600 meters long in the approximate shape is a flattened five-by-one cylinder with rounded ends. A continuous covering of synth-ceramic armor provides solid protection, as does internal bracing and compartmentalization of the same material, but otherwise the armor protection is relatively lackluster by interstellar standards. Overall, with full load and ready for a long deployment, the Triton masses in at four and a half megatonnes of metal, synthetics, supplies, and crew.

For a ship of its size, the armament of the Longbowman Alpha class is quite heavy. With ninety full-size capital missile tubes and sixty full-size gravitonic disruptor batteries on either broadside, the Triton packs more than sufficient power to face any peer. The capital missiles themselves are eight-meter, hundred-tonne missiles with a rated maximum range of five light-minutes and a gravitonic disruption warhead the equal of a five-hundred-megaton nuclear bomb. The capital energy batteries are heavy weapons, working on the principle of inducing massive gravitic sheer in a target.

Despite all the mass devoured by armament, defenses are hardly neglected. Each broadside carries more than three hundred countermissile launchers, backed up by twice their number in point-defense lasers. A total of one hundred and twenty similar emplacements grace the fore and aft ‘chase’ positions. Behind the firepower of the point-defense stations are the skin-tight gravitonic force shields. Coating and re-coating every inch of the ship’s surface, powered by generators dispersed throughout the outer hull, these classical ‘Energy Shields’ will stop anything from getting through to the poorly-armored ship below… up until the generators fail.

Small craft are housed in a concealed bay in the belly of the ship. As the Triton is not a carrier, it does not house any fighters; instead, five fairly standard shuttles are carried. The bay also holds three Assault Shuttles, purpose-made attack vehicles for TIN Marines, and various small repair and maintenance EVA craft.

Moving so much mass at high speed, of course, takes powerful engines: four Mark 95 gravitonic drive field generators, capable of near-instantaneous acceleration to just under .349c and powered by three high-output fusion plants and one artificial singularity power generator. For faster-than light travel, the Longbowman Alpha class uses one Mark 22 gravitonic warp drive unit, with a maximum rated pseudovelocity of just over 10,200 times the speed of light.

Crewing the Triton are 67 officers and 464 enlisted personnel. Of these, four officers and 116 enlisted are the ship’s TIN Marine Corps detachment, forming a full company. An additional 8 of the officers and 20 of the enlisted spacers consist of Commodore Haidan’s Flag Staff. Each crewman is a veteran of several engagements, both before and after Red’s arrival on-scene at Boardieverse Earth, on top of years of careful training by one of the most professional space navies in existence. They can be counted on to support Commodore Haidan in any conceivable situation.

The TINS Triton is six hundred and seventy-two meters and four-point-five million tonnes of jet-black death and destruction, manned by a professional and loyal crew and commanded by one of FLEET’s most active members. Its relative youth as a ship in FLEET notwithstanding, it remains as an excellent example of a Battlecruiser and a ship of the various national forces FLEET relies upon.
